Fabrics and weights
| Fabric | Feel and use | Typical weight |
|---|---|---|
| French terry (loopback) | Smooth outside, loops inside; breathable and holds its shape, for all seasons | 280–400 GSM |
| Brushed fleece | The inside loops are brushed into a soft pile; warmer and cosier | 300–450 GSM |
| Heavyweight terry or fleece | Dense and structured, for premium streetwear hoodies | 400–500+ GSM |
As a rough guide, under about 300 GSM feels light and suits layering, 300 to 400 GSM is the everyday midweight, and over 400 GSM is the dense heavyweight hoodie many streetwear brands want.
100% cotton is soft and prints well but shrinks more, so pre-shrunk fabric matters. A cotton and polyester blend, such as 80/20, shrinks and pills less and holds its color.

Construction details to decide
- Hood. Single or double layer, with or without drawcords; flat or round cords, metal or plastic tips, and eyelets.
- Pockets. Kangaroo, split side pockets, zip pockets or none.
- Ribbing. Cuffs and hem in 1x1 or 2x2 rib, usually cotton with a little elastane so they spring back.
- Zips. Metal or nylon coil, color-matched pullers; name a zip brand if you need one.
- Fit. Shoulder drop, body and sleeve length, and how tight the cuffs and hem sit.
- Finishing. Pre-shrinking, garment dye or a vintage wash.
Printing and embroidery on hoodies
- Screen printing on the front, back, sleeves or hood.
- Puff print for raised, textured logos; see what puff print is.
- Embroidery and 3D puff embroidery for chest logos and lettering.
- Chenille, woven and appliqué patches.
- DTG for small runs of full-color artwork.
Fleece pile can soften fine print detail, so bold artwork, heavier ink and embroidery hold up best. For private label, add your own neck label, care and fibre label, side-seam label and hangtags.

Minimums, samples and pricing
Our minimum is typically 50 pieces per style. The exact minimum depends on the fabric and process and is confirmed in your quote; stock fabric colors keep it low, while custom-dyed fleece usually carries a mill minimum.
The price per piece rises with fabric weight, zips and trims, embroidery stitch count and the number of print colors, and falls as quantity grows. Read what MOQ means, or see how our pricing works.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for custom hoodies?
Typically 50 pieces per style. The exact minimum depends on the fabric and production process, and is confirmed in your quote.
What GSM is a heavyweight hoodie?
Hoodies over about 400 GSM are generally called heavyweight. 300 to 400 GSM is a typical midweight, and under 300 GSM feels light.
Should I choose French terry or fleece?
French terry is smoother inside, more breathable and good all year. Brushed fleece is softer and warmer, so it suits colder months and cosy, relaxed styles.
Do you make zip hoodies?
Yes: full-zip, quarter-zip and half-zip styles, with metal or nylon zips.
How long does a sample take?
Samples typically take 2–3 weeks, and the sample cost is stated in your quote. Once you approve the sample, bulk orders are usually delivered 3–4 weeks from the order date, including shipping.
