Why New York brands work with Nevear
- Small first runs. Typically 50 pieces per item: enough to test a style or stock a launch without tying up cash in hundreds of units. See what MOQ means.
- Scale when it sells. Repeat orders can reach around 50,000 pieces in a single shipment, from the same approved sample.
- Choose where it is made. Our US partner factories avoid import duty, while the UK, Pakistan and China can lower the price per piece. Compare the duty below.
- Your label, start to finish. Woven labels, hangtags and packaging, with the fiber, origin and care details US law requires.
We make t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, pants, jeans, skirts and sportswear for labels across New York City and the state.
Planning around New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week runs every February and September. If you need samples for a show, a showroom appointment or a look book, work back from that date.
From sample to delivered order
Sample
2–3 weeks
Bulk order and delivery
3–4 weeks from your order, shipping included
Weeks from the start of sampling
One sample round and the bulk order take about five to seven weeks from the start of sampling, plus the time you take to review the sample. Fit changes usually mean another sample, so for a September launch, send your tech pack by early summer.

How New York taxes clothing
Clothing and footwear sold for less than $110 per item or pair are exempt from New York State's 4% sales tax. New York City also exempts them from its local sales tax and the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District tax, so in the city they are fully tax-free. Items priced at $110 or more are taxed in full.
Some items do not count as clothing for the exemption, including costumes, rented formal wear, jewelry and watches, and protective or sports equipment such as helmets and skates. Outside New York City, the local exemption depends on the county; Publication 718-C lists the current rates.
Register before you sell
In New York State you must apply for a Certificate of Authority at least 20 days before you start making taxable sales, or issuing or accepting exemption documents such as resale certificates. You apply online through New York Business Express, and you cannot legally make taxable sales until the certificate arrives.
Made in the USA or imported: what you pay at the border
| Where the clothing is made | Duty into the US |
|---|---|
| USA | None |
| UK | 16.5% + 10% |
| Pakistan | 16.5% + 10% |
| China | 16.5% + 12.5%, plus 7.5% on many lines |
Our US guide explains each rate, the tariff changes of 2026 and the FTC rules for labeling clothing sold in the US.
