Why Sydney brands work with Nevear
- Small first runs. Our minimum is typically 50 pieces per item, so you can test a style without committing to hundreds of units. Read what MOQ means.
- Duty-free options. Clothing from our UK, Chinese and US partner factories can enter Australia duty-free under trade agreements when it meets the origin rules.
- Room to grow. Repeat orders can reach around 50,000 pieces in a single shipment, from the same approved sample.
- A predictable timeline. Samples take 2–3 weeks, and bulk orders usually arrive 3–4 weeks from the order date, shipping included.
We make swimwear, sportswear, t-shirts, hoodies, shorts and caps for Sydney labels.
Duty and GST on clothing into Sydney
Port Botany handles 99.6% of the container traffic coming into and out of New South Wales, so most sea freight for Sydney lands there. What you pay at the border depends on where the clothing is made:
| Where the clothing is made | Duty into Australia | Why |
|---|---|---|
| UK | Free | Australia–UK Free Trade Agreement |
| China | Free | China–Australia Free Trade Agreement |
| US | Free | Australia–United States Free Trade Agreement |
| Pakistan | 5% | No Australian trade agreement, so the general rate applies |
GST of 10% is charged on the customs value plus international transport, insurance and duty, and consignments over A$1,000 need a full import declaration. Your business must register for GST once its turnover reaches A$75,000. Our Australia guide covers the labelling rules.
Planning around Australian Fashion Week
Australian Fashion Week is held in Sydney each May. In 2026 it ran from 11 to 15 May, with the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay as its central hub for the first time. Work back from the date you need samples or stock: one sample round and the bulk order take about five to seven weeks, so send your tech pack by February to leave room for a second sample.
