We make sportswear, jackets, hoodies, tracksuits, t-shirts and caps for Vancouver labels.
Duty on clothing into Vancouver
The Port of Vancouver is Canada's largest port, and it handled a record 3.78 million TEU (twenty-foot container units) in 2025. What you pay at the border depends on where the clothing is made:
| Where the clothing is made | Duty into Canada | Why |
|---|---|---|
| US | Free | Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) |
| UK | Free | Canada–United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement |
| China | 18% | No trade agreement preference, so the most-favoured-nation rate applies |
| Pakistan | 18% | No trade agreement preference, so the most-favoured-nation rate applies |
GST of 5% is also charged at the border, and importers account for duties and taxes in the CBSA's CARM portal. Our Canada guide and Toronto guide explain CARM registration and the labelling rules.
PST and GST in British Columbia
British Columbia charges a 7% provincial sales tax (PST) on most goods, separately from the 5% federal GST. PST is charged on the price before GST is added. Businesses that sell taxable goods in BC register with the province to collect PST.
Children's-sized clothing and footwear are exempt from PST, and so is adult-sized clothing bought for a child under 15 with a certificate of exemption at the till. If you sell a kids' range, that changes the tax you charge.
